Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: I have been inactive for a while, is this bootcamp for me?
A:  Before you start any fitness program, you should consult with your doctor to ensure that you are physically ready for any fitness program.

Q:  I don’t like to run, is there a lot of running involved?
A:  There will some running involved although we are not training for long distance running or track and field, but for fat loss, so some running is involved but will not exceed 3 miles at any time.  Light running may be part of the warmup or workout, but running may not be involved everyday.

Q:  What if I do kickboxing already?  Do you recommend doing both?
A:  Yes!  Since I incorporate strength training in our workouts, the kickboxing sessions can be part of your cardio sessions on days you are not doing bootcamp.

Q:  Can I just do bootcamp and halt my kickboxing?
A:  Yes, you can opt to do this.  If you do, we can extend your current kickboxing package expiration time

Q:  Can I make up days I miss bootcamp?
A:  If you are doing session A and want to makeup by attending a UFK class or attending a class in Session B this is allowed.

Q:  What session do you recommend ?
A:  The frequency you choose to train is up to you.  3-5 times per week is recommended for good fat loss results.  If you have other activities you do other than bootcamp, 2x per week may be a good option.

Q:  Do you advise the bootcamp for beginners?
A:  The workout is designed based on progression.  So, we start off at a base point and the workout will get more challenging each week to get your body acclimated to the workouts.  All workout can be modified to cater to each level of fitness regardless of the week.

Q:  What is a typical 1 hour bootcamp session?
A:  1. Warmup, 2. workout explanation and prep, either strength work and short cardio sessions, or long circuit that involves bodyweight, light weights 3. Stretching/Core work
The workouts will vary each session and will ensure to train your whole body.  I mix up the workout each session so that you are never bored!

Q:  Do you offer nutrition or eating advice?
A:  I am not a licensed nutritionist, so what I tell you are recommendations based on my knowledge in eating right.  You are more than welcome to follow my recommendations or consult with someone who can work with your calorie intake to maximize your progress

My boot camp experience through Novamma really changed my perspective on fitness.
Fitness and eating healthy is a lifestyle I've always managed to be loyal to.  However, I've always wanted something MORE out of myself.  I've craved something different...and my needs have never been entirely met.

I've had several gyms...trainers...diets...etc..

None have given me the results I've gained from Boot Camp.
It's an excellent way to begin the day!  I have never had such positive energy as I do with boot camp.  It's been a very supportive team, coached by Chau and her staff, who knows what it takes to achieve results.  I joined boot camp to gain strength.  As a fit person, I felt weak.  My body was challenged mentally and physically and I have never felt so much personal achievement as I have through this program.  I feel stronger, leaner, and the payoff has been the people around me who notice the changes.

I anticipated every class with curiosity and excitement, knowing I would never be bored or disappointed.  I coordinated my weekly schedule with the schools Kickboxing and Strength and Conditioning classes with boot camp, and I cannot express how much this enhanced my level of fitness. I am very confident that as a loyal boot camper and Novamma student..my fitness goals will continue to be achieved.

Thank you for everything!

Eating healthy is as important as exercise, if not more important, for your weight loss success.  With consistent exercise and a sound eating plan, your weight loss goals will be an ensure better results.  This is why a good eating plan will be a perfect complement to your bootcamp exercise regimen.  We are now offering MORE for you this Fall Bootcamp.

For an additional $99.00...you get:
  • Weekly feedback on your eating plan
  • Exercise and eating plans to keep you on track via website
  • Daily and weekly support for questions on exercise and eating
  • Body measurements and before/after pictures

This additional offer is a great option for those that need that extra help in getting their diet and exercise plan organized.  It is so important to set a good base for yourself and setting long term good habits.

Chau’s bootcamp has been pivotal in jump starting a lifestyle change for me.

This bootcamp has provided me with the challenge, motivation and variety I needed. The difference between this bootcamp and other fitness programs I have participated in the past is the focus on both diet and exercise. I must say, adhering to the diet principles was key for me. I believe it’s imperative that you work on both exercise and diet to experience the best benefits of this bootcamp. I know this may be common sense, but it’s a lot easier said than done. By following the bootcamp principles, I have achieved success far beyond my expectations. I dropped more weight than expected and I have more definition than ever (and after a certain age that is not easy to achieve).

The variety of the program is addictive. It’s a great mix of cardio and strength training with a little kickboxing thrown in for good measure. It’s also a great motivation to share (or sufferJ) with other people who have similar goals and are routing for each others success.

This has truly been a great experience and I look forward to the next one!

Toni

Before I made the decision to join bootcamp this year, I was a regular, active member of the UFK program also offered at the gym, attending at least three sessions a week which included kickboxing bag and sports and conditioning classes. I considered myself a relatively fit, healthy and athletic individual as compared with others my age, but was not completely satisfied with myself and the flabby areas I still had on my body. I hadn’t really changed my eating and drinking habits nor my workout regimen since crossing over into my thirties, but my body had definitely begun to show results of a slowing metabolism. I tried diets and different exercise options such as crossfit, but my personal motivation, persistence and patience was inconsistent and I didn’t give myself the chance to stay with anyone thing long enough to see positive results. I was in a mental and physical rut and was in search of something, anything to help me. NOVAMMA's bootcamp was the perfect solution. We met three times a week – once in the afternoon and twice at 6 am. That’s right, 6 am! Not normally a morning person, I definitely had to get used to that regimen but quickly and surprisingly did because it’s amazing at how one’s body can adjust to anything as long as you put your mind to it. The work outs are so stimulating and motivating because they were constantly evolving and so challenging. I’d read the work out of the day she’d write on the board and think to myself, “OMG I am gonna die today. She’s crazy! I can’t do this!” and think she was joking, but she wasn’t. And, we completed the whole work out, Every. Single. Time! I guess the quick personal moral to that story is that there’s really nothing I couldn’t do that I put my mind to.

The one thing that stuck in my mind was to always be patient with myself and give myself a chance. Results don’t happen overnight. You just have to be honest with yourself and not quit. I feel sad now that boot camp is over! I miss the camaraderie of working together towards achieving a goal and even miss the process of hitting the snooze button a million times before getting up to go to class each morning! But “boot camp” never really has to end though...it can be a guide for how one lives their daily life. The rules we followed were simple and practical. This program changed my life for the better and I would recommend this to anyone interested in making a difference in their lives. All you have to do is take that first step!
